NEC Announces the MultiSync EA193Mi 19-inch Monitor

The NEC MultiSync EA193Mi features a "premium-grade AH-IPS panel" with a native resolution of 1280 x 1024.

NEC has launched the newest member of its MultiSync series of monitors, the EA193Mi, which offers a 19-inch LED backlit AH-IPS monitor with a native resolution of 1280 x 1024, a 25000:1 and 1000:1 dynamic and typical contrast ratio.

The monitor includes DisplayPort, DVI-D and VGA connectors, integrated 1 W stereo speakers, a cable management system and a fully adjustable stand with swivel, tilt, pivot and 110 mm height adjustment. The EA193Mi features an EPEAT Silver rating, compliance with Energy Star 6.0 and TCO 6.0, a built-in carbon footprint / cost meter, and even includes an ambient light sensor to "automatically detect work conditions and determine the proper display brightness."

"The EA193Mi display offers advanced features and high-performance to help workers achieve great productivity and efficiencies in their job roles," said Kevin Christopherson, Director of Product Marketing for Desktop Displays at NEC Display Solutions. "Corporate and government workers as well as education users benefit from LED backlighting and IPS panel technology."

The NEC MultiSync EA193Mi will be available this month at a retail price of $229 with a three year limited parts and labor warranty.

    $229?!? Who they think they're fooling with that crap resolution?

    EDIT: I would buy something like this for my parents (if it were maybe $99 MAX) who are running a machine with a whole 128mb of vram- that low res would help with their frame problems with their current 1600x900 monitor...

    Hey NEC the year 2000 called, they want their monitor back. I mean I get that its IPS, but why in this form factor/resolution? I could see maybe if it had super thin bezels for eyefinity, but it doesnt.

    There are some people who like the square monitors and some older programs prefer them also. Space saving is another consideration.

    I know a lot of Artists who would love a monitor like this but in 20-21" Size and higher resolution as it gives them more verticle space

    These monitors make very handy 2nd monitors for those of us with large monitors who don't want 2 30" panels. Best use for these is for reference imagery, Facebook and email or monitoring stats

    NEC monitors are largely aimed at corporate business (read = business). Very few sensible people around here who knows that there are a whole lot more than enthusiast world.
