Altec Purports Pro Sound with Lansing FX 6021 Speakers
Measure For Measure
The power of this system places it among the reasonably good models that offer very satisfying listening for the individual listener, but this may not be quite the case if you intend to play it in a large space..
We measured113 SPL dB under standard measuring conditions, which is perfectly satisfactory but nevertheless not as loud as the most powerful system.
Maximum Level: 113 DB SPL
The result obtained shows that the higher end of the spectrum tended to be favored, quite a common feature in systems that use micro drives. The regularity of the response was quite good, although there was a peak at 15 kHz, probably corresponding to the high resonance of the transducers. The medium-bass was slightly lacking until taken up by the bass cabinet. The cabinet itself, with median adjustment, produced slightly quieter sound but merely needs adjustment to balance the output.
The bass was wonderfully regular and went right down to 40 Hz with a sudden drop thereafter. This was a perfectly reasonable choice, given the limited size of the boomer.
