Quake 2 Timedemos - Now It Really Counts!!!

The headline says it already, Quake 2, the only game for me and many many others world wide is what will really tell us the truth about cats and dogs. As the only game in this benchmark list it's taking advantage of more than one texture unit. At Quake 2 the Voodoo2 and the TNT should really shine, Banshee will have a tough time with only one TMU.

There we are, Quake 2 players need 3D power and they still get it best via Voodoo2, there's no doubt about that. Banshee looks a lot worse than in the benchmarks above and TNT can at least make some points at 800x600 and above. TNT will require a lot more power to be able and beat Voodoo2, I do not expect TNT to ever beat dual Voodoo2 SLI. Banshee is not the Quake 2 master, but the frame rate is still decent, certainly just fine for playing Quake. The frame rate of Banshee at 1024x768 should go up considerably with 16 MB local RAM.

As you can see, Banshee is not bad at Quake 2, a frame rate of 38 in Massive1 with a Celeron 266 CPU is certainly good enough for playing death matches just fine. The frame rate of Banshee at 1024x768 should go up considerably with the 16 MB version.
