ATI Graphics Card Buyer's Guide 2006, Part II

Powercolor Radeon X1600 XT - Web Support

Powercolor's website can be found at www.powercolor.com. The website follows a clear layout and the support section is easy to find. The most recent driver available on the website at the time of writing was Catalyst 6.3, bearing version number 8231. Since Powercolor does not make any changes to the reference driver, users can also download new releases of the Catalyst driver directly from ATI at www.ati.com.

Powercolor Radeon X1600 XT - Overclocking And Heat

Since the Overdrive section of the driver is deactivated, overclocking through the driver is not possible; a temperature indicator is also absent. The default clock speeds are given as 587/693 MHz (GPU/memory) in the driver's information center. However, the overall performance seems to indicate higher clock speeds. In many games, the card's performance was on par with or better than HIS's iTurbo version of the X1600 XT running at 600/1404 MHz. The memory frequency displayed in the screenshot refers to the physical clock speed. Since this is DDR memory, the clock speeds are doubled in the technical specifications.
