Biostar Announces New Hi-Fi Motherboards with Dual-GbE

Biostar has announced three new motherboards: the Hi-Fi B85S2G, the Hi-Fi A88S2G, and the Hi-Fi B85N 3D. These motherboards sit together in an announcement as they all feature dual-Gigabit Ethernet. Exactly why the Hi-Fi B85N 3D was in the announcement is unclear though, as it was already announced quite a while back.

The Hi-Fi B85N 3D as well as the Hi-Fi B85S2G are both motherboards featuring the LGA 1150 socket and are based on the B85 chipset. The former is a Mini-ITX board, while the latter is an ATX size board. The A88S2G is an ATX size AMD A88X based board which features the AMD FM2+ socket.

The dual Gigabit Ethernet connections can be used in a handful of ways. They can be used to connect to multiple networks, they can both be used to connect to the same network for multiple aggregation, or they can be used to place the PC between the main WAN connection and a switch, turning the computer into a router.

No word on pricing yet.

If you or BioStar is serious about network aggregation, I'd like to see an approved switch and the switch and O/S settings that will make it work. Otherwise a more realistic expectation is for dual homing or firewall use.
