Walmart Denies Reports That it Pulled Overpowered Gaming Desktops

Reports that spread overnight and into this morning that Walmart is pulling its Overpowered-branded gaming desktops are incorrect. The Overpowered DTW1, DTW2 and DTW3 are still on sale at Walmart.

"Yesterday, we briefly removed the OP desktops to update product information," a Walmart spokesperson told Tom's Hardware. "They are now back on the site."

We were able to go to Walmart's website, find the product pages and add each of the gaming desktops to our cart. Prior reports suggested the machines had been pulled due to quality control issues that have earned great scrutiny on YouTube, including poor part selection, bad cable management and the use of glue.

We have an Overpowered DTW3 in our lab that we're benchmarking and plan to have a review up soon.

Interestingly enough one video out there had someone receive the wrong unit... they reviewed it anyway... and then returned it for the correct unit.

It did use glue to hold a cable connection in place. It also used cables to do double-duty to help hold the GPU in place. (It was the cable they glued.)

The common thing noted on them: The price is extravagant for what you get: Their competition can do much better at their price point.

Also, Gamer's Nexus showed that the PC case used on the Overpowered line has truly terrible thermals.

What can go wrong when the front tempered glass panel only allows a 2-3mm gap on the sides for the 3 front fans to breathe ?

I especially was shocked that these were using a very... panned power supply brand for these desktops. The power supply is the most important part of the machine. You never skimp out on that, you always are willing to pay extra for it.
