The PlayStation 2 title Aliens: Colonial Marines was supposed to pick up where the blockbuster movie "Aliens" left off and follow a new squad of Colonial Marines searching for the USS Sulaco crew on the planet LV-426.
Aliens: Colonial Marines is a first-person shooter that features squad-based gameplay as well as the trusty motion detector.
In addition to the face-huggers, chest-bursters, and soldier aliens, Electronics Arts and Fox Interactive planned on showing some new breeds of Xenomorphs and the aliens' mysterious home world.
The game was designed to allow players to control other Marines in the rescue squad, with each NPC having unique skills and personalities. Veteran Marines were designed to be better fighters and more courageous while rookie Marines were going to be panick
You can't have a video game based on "Aliens" without including the giant yellow exosuit forklift.
Going into battle again the Xenomorphs without a badass Colonial Marines dropship is a bad idea.
In addition to revealing new races of Xenomorphs, Aliens: Colonial Marines was also going to feature more androids and synthetics. These models in the above screenshot look a little like the androids in "I, Robot."
"Game over, man! Game over!!!" After a solid showing at E3 2001, EA cancelled Aliens: Colonial Marines the following year.
