NEC and LaCie Lead On Professional LCD Gear
Calibrator: The Hardware
Both calibrators are based on the same hardware, a device with a thick plastic shell. They both come equipped with a white dust cover, which is absolutely essential when the calibrator isn't in use. The armored transparent USB cable is provided with a counterweight to allow it to hang behind the panel during the course of the calibration. This relieves the suction pad of some of the weight during the calibration process, which can take about five minutes.
The business end has a suction device and a felt pad to as not to damage the screen during calibration. It's important not to press too hard on your monitor when calibrating; LCD is still a fragile technology.
Because of the USB interface, the calibrators are not that fast, but the emphasis here is on precision.
Since the hardware is the same, we chose to spend more time on the software functionality to help guide your choice.
