Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Ultra: Maximum Features On Board, Continued
No problems occurred during the test : the board worked with all the RAM modules. A rarity in the entire test field !
| Corsair XMS3200V1.1 | CL 2.0-2-2-5 (404.6) |
| Kingston KHX3500 | CL 2.0-4-4-8 (374.8) |
| OCZ PC3200 | CL 2.0-4-4-8 (374.2) |
| GeIL CL2-6-3-3 Ultra | CL 2.0-4-4-8 (375.8) |
| Kingmax MPXB62D-68KX3 | CL 2.0-3-3-6 (397.5) |
| takeMS mMS64D32000U-5 | CL 2.0-4-4-8 (376.7) |
| Infineon HYS64D32300GU-5-B | CL 2.0-3-3-6 (393.9) |
The above table lists all the timings of the modules we used, which are reliably read out using a diagnostic tool. A measurement for the speed is the frame rate achieved in Quake III Demo 1 (640 x 480 x 16).
Connections for SCSI.
Active Northbridge cooler.
Naturally, there are differences between the individual modules as far as the timing is concerned : only the Corsair achieved maximum timings and, thus, the highest speed. In the benchmark measurements the Gigabyte takes third place, behind Asus and MSI.
In a nutshell : it’s the features king, running at least 400 euros ; but then again, it comes with all the bells and whistles. The performance is adequate and also provides a good basis for overclocking. The lack of fan monitoring (Northbridge, voltage regulator DPSII) and control could be improved. All in all, a good buy.
