Dell doubles standard hard drive and memory sizes on XPS desktops
Dell today said that it now installs 1 GB of system memory and 160 GB hard drives standard in its multimedia and enthusiast PC of the XPS series. The numbers are up from 512 MB and 80 GB, respectively.
The entry-level XPS system is the XPS 400, which starts at $1000 and includes a Pentium D 820 processor, a 128 MB ATI X300 SE graphics card and a 19" LCD. The XPS 600 remains the high-end version of the series, which is available from about $4500. At the end of March, Dell is expected to offer its XPS Renegade Quad-SLI system which will add at least another $1000 to the bill.
