Sharp develops three-way vision LCD panel

Sharp announced that its has developed the first LCD panel that can display three different images simultaneously on a single screen.

In a press release, Sharp gave the example of an in-car video system, where the driver could be looking at a navigation system, while the passenger is checking out shopping and dining information in the area and someone in the back is watching a movie.

The display uses parallax barriers to separate the image displayed in three different directions. In other words, the image will be different depending on the angle from which it's viewed.

This expands on the LCD panels that Sharp introduced last year, which show two separate images, but only one can be seen, depending on the viewing angle.
