I remember the early days of computer gaming and some of the attempts to bring a James Bond game to the PC. The vast majority of these attempts met with failure, and it was not until "Golden Eye" came out for the Nintendo 64 that one of these James Bond games met with success.
James Bond 007: Nightfire, developed by Gearbox Studios, marks Bond's first debut on the PC. Timed for release just in time to go with the new Bond movie, Nightfire doesn't follow the plot or story line of "Die Another Day," which, in our opinion, is a good thing. While Nightfire is available on the console platforms, the PC version of Nightfire is unique among the bunch. Although the Nightfire games will follow the same basic plot, the games will be somewhat unique - which is good news for PC gamers.
Nightfire features the use of a highly modified version of Valve's Half-Life engine. It has been highly modified, and has been dubbed the Gearcraft engine by the Gearbox Studio folks. Nightfire features a new render written specifically for Nightfire, which leads to some stunning graphics. You have access to some great gadgets in Nightfire, which really helps make this game even better. With a lot of levels in a variety of locales with a variety of weather effects, this is an exceptional game that any gamer would like to receive and play this holiday season.
