EK Developing Water Blocks for the HD 7990 Malta GPU

For those looking to overclock their Radeon HD 7990 or simply fit a quieter and more effective cooling system, EK is developing the EK-FC7990 SE water block for the graphics card. The EK-FC7990 SE offers direct cooling for the GPU, RAM and Voltage Regulation Modules (VRMs) and a high flow design that can “easily be used in liquid cooling systems using weaker pumps”.

As we’ve come to expect from EK Water Blocks, it will be available in four versions (Copper Plexi, Copper Acetal, Nickel Plexi and Nickel Acetal) and will be sold directly from the Ek Webshop and Partner Reseller Network.

The EK-FC7990 SE is tentatively scheduled for a release in “early May 2013” with  details still pending on pricing and availability. Should you not be willing to wait that long, EK Water Blocks has also noted that its EK-FCS100000 water block designed for the AMD FirePro S100000 is fully compatible with the Radeon HD 7990.

  • Can't they just rebrand the one they have right now? I mean, it is fully compatible.....

It is the AMD FirePro S10000, not AMD FirePro S100000. One extra zero.

FYI you don't want EK nickel. Even after they "fixed" the problem with it flaking off, the electroless stuff still corrodes, even when you use premix coolant with anti-corrosive additives. EK did their own test "EK Staining Test" and look at Page 5 vs. Page 6. What a joke.
