While AMD has officially released its HD 7990 Malta graphics card today (read our in-depth review here), a number of different manufacturers have released their cards. Most of the cards are almost identical, with the only differences being packaging and the included software.
So far, at the time of writing, Asus, Club3D, MSI, Sapphire, and PowerColor have announced their HD 7990 graphics cards, all of which are based on the reference design. They feature two 28 nm Tahiti chips that are based on the GCN architecture, running at a base clock speed of 950 MHz with a boost speed of 1000 MHz. In total the graphics card has 4096 stream processors, 256 Texture Mapping Units (TMUs), and 64 Render Output Units (ROPs). Each of the GPUs has 3 GB of GDDR5 memory dedicated to it, bringing the total memory count on the PCB up to 6 GB. The memory runs at 6 GHz, which runs over a 384-bit memory interface.
All of the cards also come with eight games bundled:
- Tomb Raider (Crystal Dynamics/Square Enix)
- Hitman: Absolution (IO Interactive/Square Enix)
- Sleeping Dogs (Square Enix)
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Eidos/Square Enix)
- Crysis 3 (Crytek/EA)
- Far Cry 3 (Ubisoft)
- Far Cry: Blood Dragon (Ubisoft)
- BioShock Infinite (Irrational Games/2K)
Regarding software suites, Asus includes its GPU Tweak utility and MSI includes its own Afterburner tool. In reality though, these tools can be used across the board on all graphics cards and aren't limited to that of the manufacturer. MSI also boasts that its card uses solid-state capacitors, though this may not be an exclusive feature.
