System Builder Marathon, May '09: $1,300 Enthusiast PC
Benchmark Results: Media Encoding
With the media-encoding benchmarks, we’ll expect to see some solid gains from the overclocked system, as these applications will be heavily reliant on CPU speed.
iTunes delivers about a 30% performance increase with the overclock, which is similar to what we saw in the synthetic Sandra benchmark.
Lame also shows a similar, albeit a little lower, performance increase of about 22%.
Both Xvid and DivX show a 21% to 25% speed increase when the system is overclocked. Once again, CPU speed is the order of the day here.
The Mainconcept media encoder has no surprises for us, with a 27% speed boost when overclocked.
