The Quake 3 performance chart looks almost just as the fill rate chart of 3D Mark 2001. At 16-bit color GeForce3 is unable to touch Radeon 8500, but at 32-it color Radeon 8500 falls back behind GeForce3. Radeon 7500 is unable to compete against GeForce2 Pro up until high resolution at 32-bit color.
This chart is rather inconclusive and doesn't really tell us a whole lot. This benchmark is basically CPU-bound and the differences are only able to show how well the driver is P4-optimized. It seems as if NVIDIA has a slight edge.
