Inkjet-Printer: Heavyweights From Canon, Epson and HP
HP Photosmart 7760
Different manufacturer, different answer. The 7760 takes over from the 7350. Officially, the speed has not changed (though our tests found it had doubled), its cartridges, i.e. ink + nozzle set responsible for print quality, are the same and it still has the card readers and paper analyzer. The new features are an LCD screen to view the photos on the memory cards you insert and a few (basic) functions for retouching images via the printer itself, instead of on your computer. So the new photosmart is even more convenient than the previous one!
The Tests
We ran the same tests as usual: text, compound, monochrome and color documents, ordinary, draft and high definition resolution, etc. And we have added a score of 10x15 cm and A4 color and black and white photos, plus a color chart.
To give you a better idea of the quality, which is sometimes unequal, we scanned the prints in 300 dpi so you can judge for yourselves. For this we used the Epson Perfection 3200, one of the best scanners around.
If your monitor is not calibrated, you can make things a bit better by adjusting its brightness and contrast so you can detect the 20 shades of gray below. You'll find the scanned images in the following pages gain by it.
