Speed In Black
No doubt about it, the i860 not only does the best black and white printing, it also does it faster than the others. We also noted that, though the C84 is not left out in the cold, the quality of its prints in default mode cannot compare with the Canon. For greater precision, you should drop the initial Text mode and use Text & Photo which is much better, though the speed will be no more than 3 or 4 ppm.
Speed In Color
The same applies to color. Canon is twice as fast as the others. If you raise the quality a bit on the Epson, the speed drops to 2 ppm.
First Page Output Time
The speeds above apply to printing in bulk. But you maybe only have one page to print. For this case, here are the times each printer takes for the first page to print.
- 12 seconds on the i860
- 12 seconds on the C84
- 25 seconds on the photosmart 7760
