Photo Printer: Canon i950

Color Charts: I950, I850

The color chart test prints showed the advantage of the ColorMatch RGB profile. With its default settings, the i950 got a rating of 3.8/5 for color rendering. This goes up to 4/5 when the image is converted with ColorMatch RGB and if the printer uses the same profile. The improvement is mostly seen in the grays, which explains why monochrome photos come out better than in default mode. Yellows gain a bit too, though red, cyan and green do not.

The original color chart is on the first line. But it would not be fair to compare the prints to it, as you have to allow for scanner error. This is why there is the "Scanned original chart" line, which shows the colors given by the scanner (CanoScan 3000) when the original chart was scanned. So this is the line ("Scanned original chart") that you should use for comparison purposes.

The magenta is too dark; the yellow and cyan too pale. ColorMatch printing with ICM color management lowers the overall amount of blue and makes the colors a tad truer. In this respect, the i850 always gives the truest colors and is awarded a rating of 4.1/5.
