Do It Yourself: More Storage For Your PlayStation 3
The latest PlayStation 3 Slim offers up to 250 GB of storage on its built-in hard drive. But enthusiasts are better off paying Sony less for a cheaper model and upgrading immediately to a larger hard drive. We show you how in four simple steps.
Step 4 (Optional): Data Restore
This step only applies if you performed a full PlayStation 3 backup in Step 1, and if you now intend to restore all your data back to the new, larger 640 GB hard drive you installed.
Return to the Backup Utility and select Restore now.
Existing data on the new drive may be deleted. That’s fine for us because the drive is new and has no existing data.
We select our thumb drive that holds the backup set created in step 1.
The backup set is a bit cryptic, but it's named using a simple date and time stamp.
Here we go! A 640 GB gross capacity results in a net capacity of 596 GB on the PlayStation 3 Slim. Enjoy!
