HIS Introduces R9-280X iPower IceQX2 Graphics Card

HIS has announced its R9-280X iPower IceQX2 Turbo Boost Clock 3 GB GDDR5 graphics card.

AIB partner HIS has announced its new R9-280X iPower IceQX2 graphics card. The graphics card features some attributes over the reference design, making it a very appealing card.

First, it features the iPower design. This means that the card has a couple of extra VRM phases, which should help overclocking and stability. The card also features a factory-overclocked GPU, which runs at 1000 MHz, as compared to the reference 850 MHz. Beyond that, the card features 3 GB of GDDR5 memory. The iTurbo software allows the user to control various aspects of the card, including fan speeds and overclocks.

HIS has also equipped the card with its IceQX2 cooler, which it calls a 'state of the art' cooler. It has two fans, a number of heat pipes, as well as large aluminum blocks. All-in-all, it should operate at idle noise levels of about 28 dB. HIS has also strengthened the card with a metal RIB.

There was no word on pricing or availability.

    I rather like HIS and its IceQ cards, I used to have an HD4650 of theirs and was rock solid up till the upgrade, this is a strong contender for the next upgrade

    Extra VRM phases huh? Gee, that sure helped me on my HIS 7950 IceQ with a -as of now- fried MOSFET. What we need is higher quality phases, not more of the same crappy ones. I'm thinking IR powerFETs need to be standard on mobos and cards now, its 2013, no mo' ancient tech please.

    The specs seem off for a 280X which is the rebranded HD7970. 850MHz is too low of a stock clock speed. I thought they were all going to be 950MHz stock, some at 1GHz and others (very few) overclocked well beyond that.

    Not a fan of blue PCB but i do agree with some of the comments above. Don't post anything yet unless its benchmarks. Would love to see how these handle Battlefield 4!

    I have a HIS 5670 IceQ 1 GB DDR5,awesome. Love the IceQ series.

    PS:Can anyone tell me do they still this card, i want to buy one more, coz i m a li'l tight on budget rite now.
