In practice, the Powermaster functions work surprisingly well. In fact, they're quite similar to those found in 3DNow!, SpeedStep, or Cool & Quiet without noticeable differences for users in normal or overclocked operation. But when it comes to underclocking, Powermaster's reduced power consumption and reduced noise from slower CPU fans made a welcome and noticeable change.
