Next-Gen 7,200 RPM Notebook Hard Drives
Results: PCMark05 Application Benchmark
This benchmark writes large amounts of data onto the partitioned drives, and typically reflects the low-level throughput results from the previous page. Samsung and Seagate dominate, as they are the two drives that have superior throughput results.
The Windows XP startup benchmark combines access capabilities and high throughput, and can be considered very relevant to drive use in everyday life. This time, the Hitachi Travelstar 7K320 provides the best results, but WD’s Scorpio, which has the quickest access time, follows close behind. Seagate scores only a good result, and does not even outperform its predecessor, most likely because its access time is a bit longer with the Momentus 7200.3.
