Although Blu-ray Disc (BD) has won the blue-laser format war, the current mainstream status of red-laser DVD formats, including +R/-R and +RW/-RW, in the global storage market will continue over the next three to five years, according to representative director Koki Aizawa for the Rewritable Products Promotion Initiative (RW PPI) under the Japan-based DVD Forum. Aizawa spoke during a round robin test seminar held by RW PPI in Taipei which began February 21.
