Shuttle Enters Monitor World with XP17 LCD
Good All Over?
To check the spatial uniformity of the rendering, we performed the following measurement: We set the panel at 50% brightness and 50% contrast and measured the uniformity of light intensity on a white image. The brightest point is considered 100%, and the rest of the values are located between 0 and 100%.
As you can see, the lighting is centered in the middle of the screen. This is a logical choice, since this is the point that players' eyes will concentrate on. The brightness varies by as much as 15%. This is not excellent if you compare it to our reference monitor. But light distribution is fairly homogeneous vertically, which is good. This observation was confirmed on disassembly of the monitor: The light source is off-center.
