Benq is planning to ship its BW1000 Blu-ray burner to Europe next month. The unit can read and write to 25 GB and 50 GB Blu-ray discs at up to 2X speeds, which equals about 9 MB per second.

Benq has been showcasing a full-HD (1200p) 24" LCD, complete with HDMI ports and everything else you would expect from a future high-end monitor on your desktop.

It's nothing but obvious at this year's CeBit tradeshow that display manufacturers restrain themselves from chasing ever faster refresh rates.

Benq today said that it will ship its new FP202W LCD in the fourth quarter of this year.

LCD monitors vendors CMV, Acer and BenQ will raise their prices for 17" and 15" LCD monitors, starting from the second half of August, according to the companies.

Taiwan-based LCD monitors including Jean, Amtran Technology, BenQ and Coretronic all posted strong sales results in July, according to the companies.

With the goal of becoming the top display vendor in the world, BenQ will aggressively expand its LCD TV business in Japan and Europe in the second half of this year, according to the company.
