Using already-familiar components, the 5900, logically enough, showed results that were devoid of surprises, with very little deviation from previously tested models. The same very good balance was there, with a peak at around 3 kHz and a valley around 6 kHz, already seen with other similar satellite models. The midrange was slightly emphasized, but the regularity of the response was very good. The subwoofer didn't reach as far down the spectrum as other similar but slightly-larger Creative models, yet its response can't really be criticized. It clearly favors the 60 - 125 Hz band, which is quite understandable for a model of this type. Don't expect sub-bass it can't deliver!
The maximum possible volume level is average in absolute terms, as you'd expect from a model in this price range.

The response covered the audible spectrum with good regularity and very acceptable overall balance.
Response, logically enough, favored the useful range of the lower register.
The T5900 was very convincing for watching DVD movies - even in-your-face blockbusters with explosions, detonations and other loud sound effects. Listening close up, we didn't at all get the impression that this was a low-budget system. You won't be disappointed if you like action films, but more subtle atmospheres were also rendered nicely.
For music, the results were quite good, above all if you keep the price in mind. Provided you adjust the subwoofer level correctly, you get very nicely balanced reproduction. The midrange had both satisfactory definition and a very adequate lack of coloration. The subwoofer was a bit lacking for certain types of music, but at this price, you can't ask for much more. If you can't spend a bundle, the T5900 is a very good choice that will adapt to all types of use.
