Scythe Ninja Plus Rev. B - The Cutting Edge Cooler
This is the second cooler by Scythe to make an appearance in the roundup. The Ninja Plus Rev. B sports six heatpipes and is rather large, measuring 13.5 x 11 x 14 cm (length x width x height). It also ships with a fan pre-installed, namely Scythe's own SY1225SL12M (120 mm x 25 mm, 1200 RPM, 116.4 m³/h, 24 db(A)).
Scythe Ninja Plus Rev B
The Ninja Plus only receives 4 points for its cooling performance, since it is only able to cool the processor to 77°C even at its highest setting. Due to its configuration using 23 aluminum cooling fins, the fan is about 1 db(A) louder than on the Thermalright IXF-14. At full speed, there is a very audible hiss as a result of this design. Therefore, we recommend setting the fan to run at 75% speed. Overall, its cooling performance is lackluster.
Installation is very simple, as the cooler uses pushpins like those found on Intel's box coolers. Using a 12 cm flat-head screw driver, mounting the fan is child's play. Pushing down or pulling out the pushpins is a bit more difficult without a screwdriver, if there are other components such as the chipset cooler in the way. Holding the cooler is not a pleasant experience, as it has many sharp edges - careless moves can quickly result in injury.

In light of its performance the price of $43 is just acceptable for this cooler.
