Modding The Xbox Into The Ultimate Multimedia Center
Audio Playback
The leap into the audio menu (My Music) lets you choose straight away whether you want the network, a DVD or the hard drive as your media source. A clearly laid out folder structure, common in computer graphics systems, aids navigation. Pressing starts playback of music data in wav, mpa, mp2, mp3, ram and wma formats. Playlists in m3u, pls and strm are also supported.
The XBMC also searches the Internet for titles and album names on the CDDB that you can then view as thumbnails. Also, the titles based on the ID3 tags in MP3 files or their equivalents in Ogg Vorbis Audio or in Windows Media Audio materialize without a hitch.
Audio playback can be visualized if you like your display lively.
