The FTP server is part of the XBMC and can be deactivated if required in the configuration menu (next page).

Configuration Via Xml File

Practically all settings on the XBMC are made via an xml file. It lets you choose the file-sharing protocol to be used by Windows (SMB) and set any number of bookmarks.
