Glossary
CCD
Short for "charged coupled device". An image converter developed primarily for digital cameras. The CCD image converter is a light-sensitive semiconductor that converts incident light into voltage proportionally to intensity.
CMYK
(Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key color.) CMYK is a subtractive color scheme for four-color printing, in which the individual colors are defined by specifying the respective percentages of cyan, magenta, yellow and a key color (black).
Color Depth
Amount of information describing the color of a pixel. At three color channels (red, green and blue), 24 bits are equivalent to 16.7 million displayable colors.
OCR
Short for "optical character recognition". Optical character and letter recognition: test documents are read into the computer with a scanner and converted into editable text documents.
PhotoREt IV
Resolution enhancement technology. This technology is based on a six-color ink system (CMYK, light cyan, light magenta) in which two cartridges with three colors each are used. The resulting quality of the printouts is crisp and clear.
