Scanning, Copying, Printing and Faxing: Multifunctional Devices
Lexmark X85
The Lexmark X85 delivers good test results, but the printing costs are too high. The finished printouts show slight color deviations. Its speed is good, too: ten Dr. Grauert business letters are printed within only one minute and 51 seconds.
The printing costs, some 11.8 cents per color page and 8.6 cents per black and white page, are high. The flatbed scanner with a removable cover sports a resolution of 600 x 1200 at a color depth of 48 bits. Scan quality, producing a color deviation of a bit over 21 percent, is good.
The control panel of this peripheral has large keys that facilitate quick and error-free entries. The LCD located above it gives you constant control over your input. The color cartridges are hard to access and, therefore, hard to replace.
The performance of the X85, which finds itself in the middle of the pack, makes it the best Lexmark model in this test. You get a reliable MFD for your everyday office use for only $179.99.
