10 DVD Burners: 16x and Dual-Layer - or Nothing!

Sony DRU-710A

The Sony DRU-710A burner is based on the Lite-On SOHW-1633S. In fact, Lite-On now makes all the burners for the Japanese giant. This one is based on the same chipset, the MT1828E / MT1816E from MediaTek. Sony calls the failure-protection system Power Burn, but it has exactly the same functions as Lite-On's Smart-Burn.

    Please report noise levels in optical drive reviews. This is a big factor in which drive to buy for some people. My current DVD burner sounds like a jet engine for 5 minutes after putting a disc in.
