Red-Hot Stuff: 11 DVD Burners Reviewed
HP DVD300e, Continued
Not to be overlooked are the generous offerings included in the HP package: In the big box are a multilanguage manual, a driver CD, ArcSoft Multimedia e-mail, HP Memories Disc Creator, PowerDVD from Cyberlink, Veritas RecordNow and the power adapter, including a cable for USB and FireWire. If you order online, you get four rather than just one DVD+RW for free.
Although support on the HP websites turns out to be simple, because entry of the product name takes you quickly to drivers and numerous technical resources, we were still not able to determine either the weight of the 300e (it's 1.4 kilos) or find firmware updates that could eliminate the read incompatibility with DVD-R/-RW.
On the back there are interfaces for FireWire and a port for USB 2.0. A sliding panel always keeps one of the interfaces closed - in the first picture, the FireWire ports are accessible ...
... while the second photo shows the USB port.

Very informative review. Tedious reading and loading it though...It would have been nice to see a chart or graph at the end of the article with all the drives together. This loading page after page after page sucks big time. too much other crap. Otherwise, I did find what I was looking for. Thanks Tom's Hardware!Reply
