Superb overclocking capabilities in Gigabyte’s 9800 GX2 put the current configuration in the lead at 3D Mark’s basic settings. Prior to overclocking, our new configuration had fallen behind.
Enabling anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering for 3D Mark puts the current overclocked build in an even more commanding lead. This proves the superior power of four G92 graphics processors, even if that power doesn’t translate directly into game performance.
One may also conclude that these results provide additional proof of 3D Mark’s inadequate representation of actual game performance.
PC Mark’s system test favors the higher CPU clock speed of the March overclock.
Faster CPU speed means better PC Mark CPU performance.
The current build’s DDR3 memory beats the March system’s DDR2 performance, and overclocking just makes the new system look even better.
