published The price of PC camera-use VGA CMOS image sensors is expected to decline by 20 percent in 2006 amid increasing supply from China-based design houses, according to sources at Taiwan image sensor makers.
Prices for image sensors fell by 10 percent in 2005 due largely to competition among Taiwan-based vendors, notably between Silicon Optronics (SOI) and PixArt Imaging (PXI), the sources noted.
