Warcraft III - The Frozen Throne
Warcraft III is one of the most popular games of the last months. The 3D engine of this real time strategy game is not using any pixel shader code (as far as we know) but requires a DX8.1 compatible driver. We measured the performance of a 3on3 replay at 8x speed (which results in very fast camera moves and offers a lot of effects) that was recorded in a Clanwar session. The framerate was measured with FRAPS.
The ATI 9800 Pro cards outperform NVIDIA's FX5900 Ultra. While we can only see a small performance drop of the ATI cards at higher resolutions, the FX slows down much more. No difference between the 9800 Pro and XT here.
