iiyama has announced a new monitor, and while it may look like a simple 19" monitor that was built many cycles ago, it actually isn't.
The monitor, which is to be known as the ProLite T1931SR-2, features a resolution of 1280 x 1024, and is LED backlit. It has a 5 ms response time, a contrast ratio of 900:1, stereo 1W speakers, and touch-sensitive input. The touchscreen uses resistive touch technology, meaning that unlike capacitive screens, you must give it a little push. Fortunately, that means that it does work with fingers, styluses, and bricks, though we wouldn't recommend using the last one.
iiyama has also certified the unit with IP54 dust and water protection. Clearly, this monitor is intended for industrial applications.
The unit comes with a three year manufacturer warranty, and costs a disturbing 109,800 yen, translating to about $1131 USD -- sounds about right for a museum piece. You'll even be able to buy one in the old-school white color.
