Researchers develop brighter blue PLEDs

A team of researchers from two of Taiwan's top universities has unveiled a new technology that they say can produce blue PLEDs (polymer light-emitting diodes) five times brighter than current ones, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News.

The researchers, from National Chiao Tung University and National Tsing Hua University, both located in Taiwan's IT hub city of Hsinchu, said some backlight-unit makers in Taiwan have shown interest in their new technology.
