Industry analyst outfit TrendForce estimates that midrange laptops will increase their retail prices by about 40% due to increasing RAM, SSD, and CPU costs.

This is only the beginning.

PC RAM prices are expected to go down by 8-10% while memory used for GPUs will also see a price cut of about 5-10%

PC DRAM and VRAM will grow between 3% to 8% due to increased production pressure on HBM and data server memory.

A report from TrendForce anticipates a 50% increase in NAND flash prices in the near term, which will further boost SSD prices.

PC RAM pricing continues to fall, but at a far slower rate. However, it isn't sustainable for manufacturers to slow production and stockpile in the long term.

2022 is going to be an annus horribilis for fast refresh, fast response screens, reckons TrendForce, but the segment should return to growth in 2023.

Demand has slowed, inventories are building, and it is thought NAND Flash product sales could cross into loss territory so producers can move on.
