Easy to spot : digital audio outputs and two network ports are standard.
The slick manual format is reminiscent of a marketing brochure, but it is nonetheless of high quality and printed in color. All the essentials are there in terms of content, too, although we would have preferred a larger format to ease the strain on the eyes.
Except for the aforementioned lack of a FireWire adapter, ECS thought of everything else. Thus the package, which features a see-through panel, contained two IDE round cables, a round floppy cable, two SATA cables complete with power converter, a network cable and a "Top-Hat" Flash module. The last two are rather unusual, as we’ve never seen a network cable included with a motherboard and the Flash module is a sandwich module that you simply plug into the board in case of a defect or data loss in the BIOS Flash ROM.
ECS packed the driver CD chock full with PC Cillin 2002, WinRIP (music archiving), WinDVD and WinDVD Creator Plus, a monitoring tool called Omni Guardian and the Fuzzy Overclocking utility.
A plethora of very useful cables are included with the Photon board.
