Optical Mice: Microsoft and Logitech
Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0
This is the high-end version of the new Microsoft mice. Combined with the keyboard of the same range, it forms the Desktop Elite. The new Explorer is designed for the right-handed and is very ergonomically shaped. It is quite big and plump but is not too heavy with its two batteries. The palm fits very well round it and the fingertips fall naturally into the two indentations in front of the buttons. The button clicks are easy, sensitive and precise. It has the same multidirectional scroll button as the other models, so the same criticisms apply: you need a while to get used to it and the new axis is only useful for desktop applications. On the left it has two extra buttons, which are easy to reach, but too close together, so you often find yourself pressing both of them at the same time.
