PC makers to see delay in Vista benefit

Microsoft's latest upgrade to the Windows operating system was a long time coming. Analysts are expecting the makers of the PCs that run the system and the chips that execute its commands will have an additional wait before seeing any significant boost to their bottom lines.

The consumer version of Microsoft's Vista is expected to be released at the end of January, but computer sellers such as Dell aren't yet projecting any resulting profit spike; nor are Advanced Micro Devices and Intel, the dominant suppliers of microprocessors used in personal computers.
