19" LCD Monitors: The Spring 2006 Collection
Spatial Uniformity
I expected better here, given the relatively low brightness used on the 970P. But the results are what they are. The panel is only in the average for the monitors tested for this article; it's not exceptional for this parameter.
No halos were visible in the corners of the screen or in the black bands accompanying films. That's a positive point. Overall, the static qualities of this monitor, especially its exceptional contrast, make it very attractive.
Samsung 970P: Short Of The Mark
The Samsung 970P might be an answer to the ViewSonic VP930, but its latency profile disappoints.
The panel's latency performance was good, but overshoot hurt its overall performance. While not as outrageous as the 960BF we just looked at, the 970P's overshoot time was between 1 and 1.5 frames for medium transitions (black -> gray).
