Google has just added a new flag in its Chromium 18 builds that extends the browser's hardware acceleration feature.

There has been plenty of speculation about Google's motivation to guarantee Mozilla nearly $1 billion in a 3-year advertising contract that covers the search box in Firefox.

Google has surpassed Mozilla in browser share, according to StatCounter. Chrome jumped to 25.69 percent in November, while Firefox dropped to 25.23 percent. Microsoft's IE gained slightly and ended up at 40.63 percent.
