TechEd 2006 Day 1 Slideshow: New features for Office 2007, flash acceleration for Vista
We are wrapping up day 1 of Microsoft's 2006 TechEd Conference as Microsoft has provided surprisingly few details so far about its packed roadmaps for Windows Vista, its server variant and the upcoming Office 2007.
However, there are four more dauys left and we count on almost 600 technical sessions, labs and tracks throughout the week to pick one or the other detail about the software that will be running on our desktops, notebooks and servers in the not too distant future.
For day 1, the news items not to miss are:
- Hybrid hard drives to become Vista Premium requirement
- Microsoft creates "Forefront" brand for security software
- Microsoft preps flash-based "performance accelerators" for Vista
- Microsoft's high-end Office 2007 gets customization tools
- Office 2007 "ribbon" UI extensibility demonstrated
