Lower prices bringing HD to PDP TV mainstream, says research firm

The market for enhanced definition (ED) PDP (plasma display panel) TVs began its imminent decline in the third quarter of 2005, falling behind high definition (HD) PDP TV sales for the first time.

Quixel Research' Market Review for the third quarter 2005 revealed that 68 percent of the total PDP market in units and 80 percent of the PDP market in value consisted of HD products.

The ED PDP TV under 50" segment fell 11% quarter-on-quarter and represented 32% of the market in units and 20 percent of the segment's revenues.
