Decide exactly when your keys respond

You can change almost everything worth changing on a Logitech G keyboard, including the actuation point — the point during a keypress when the keyboard registers your input. Most mechanical keyboards leave this fixed, but the Logitech G512 X lets you swap in analog switches with adjustable actuation, thanks to its dual-swap functionality.

The board has 39 hybrid switch beds that can take either mechanical or analog TMR switches, with nine Gateron KS-20 analog switches included in the box. For gamers, you’ve got the choice: go sensitive, or make the keys harder to trigger. Your WASD keys are perfect for this, as you can tune them to react to the lightest touch. It’s adjustable on a key-by-key basis, too. Lowering the actuation point to as little as 0.1mm can make those rapid movements feel more immediate, which is great for fast-paced shooters, but you can also put it up to 4.0mm if you need something harder to trigger accidentally.

You can also double up your presses by assigning two actions at different depths. The included SAPP rings give you a physical bump when you hit that second actuation point. It’s all set up through G Hub, where you can also switch up the lighting and profile settings.

Test the actuation settings that work best, rather than relying on the defaults. The hardware can keep up with those changes, with a 0.125ms response time and an 8kHz report rate that sends input updates to your PC up to 8,000 times per second. You’re going to want that faster report rate when you’re playing fast-paced shooters.

Build your perfect setup, one change at a time

Rome wasn’t built in a day. You can experiment with Logitech G keyboards to figure out what works, whether you’re a gamer or a coder. The G Hub app lets you create your own custom profiles with settings that apply to individual games and apps. You can pick a preset profile to tweak and adapt as a starting point.

With the Logitech G316 X, customization is always within reach. The dial in the top right, along with the matching dot-matrix display, means you can quickly adjust your volume, brightness, and report-rate settings without leaving your game. Any deeper remapping you need is accessible within G Hub. You’ve got hot-swappable switches that let you change how individual keys feel without replacing the board.

Keycaps give you another layer to personalize. Contrasting caps can mark out your movement or ability keys, making your most-used controls easier to spot. The Logitech G316 X ships with PBT caps, which you can easily swap out for compatible replacements. It also uses a gasket-mounted design with sound-dampening layers to help soften the blow of each key press.
