First off, we'd like to make it clear that Solaris Computer Systems has absolutely nothing to do with the Solaris operating system from Sun Microsystems.
Now that's out of the way, who is Solaris Computer Systems?
According to the company's founder, Max Feinstein:
"Solaris Computer Systems was founded by me in March of 2007 on the ideal that customers come first and excellent computers can be affordable as well as high quality. Everyone in the company believes in this goal and work hard to bring our customers the best computer shopping experience possible. Our large selection of parts is a testament to our commitment, allowing them to choose the parts them want. We have something to fit everyone's taste and requirement."
Max also indicated that Solaris will even make an effort to accommodate customers who look for parts that Solaris doesn't usually carry, which is kind of cool. To do this, Max said "All they have to do is email us and we will add that hardware to their order."
To summarize, I think it's probably fair to say that Solaris Computer Systems is a startup PC company in Farmington Hills, Mich. that looks to carve itself a niche in the PC market by focusing on customer service, quality components and customization. This is certainly a worthwhile goal and it gives us a chance to see what a smaller PC builder can do, instead of focusing on the Dells and homebuilt rigs we usually dissect for your reading pleasure.
In an effort to show us what they can build, Solaris sent us two test systems: the Photon XLX and the Nebula XL.
It's important to mention that Solaris is on the verge of starting up its business and its Website at www.solaris-pc.com wasn't operational yet when this article was written. But we wish them the best of luck, as we delve into their hardware and see what they have to offer.
