As the official announcement for the iPhone 5 approaches, so do more leaks and rumors. Just last week, we caught a glimpse of alleged iPhone 5 photos and video and now, iPhone parts company ETrade posted a video showing a direct comparison between the iPhone 4S screen and an alleged iPhone 5 screen. The video reports that the iPhone 5 screen is slightly thinner, longer and more durable than its predecessor.
The company reports that the iPhone 5 screen will feature a 4.065-inch panel that is .1mm thinner with a home button that is .3mm smaller as well. Along with the smaller home button is a smaller area surrounding it, measuring 15.40mm compared to the iPhone 4S' 18.00mm. The biggest change between the two screens is that the resolution ratio for the iPhone 5 lens will be closer to 16:9, making high-def videos more pleasant.
In addition to the dimension specifications, ETrade also reported an improved light trasmittance for the panel as well as enhanced scratch protection. Of course, all of this information could be false, so we won't know for sure until the official announcement which is rumored to come on September 12th.

dalethepcman Samsung should file a lawsuit against apple for using a 16:9 screen in their phone, because it looks too much like the galaxy S3Reply -
bustapr that aspect ratio looks quite bad. would look better if it kept the 4s AR, and made it bigger. I can already see advertising coming for this.Reply
"the new iphone 5, with an new innovative stronger screen that wont shatter around the entire phone the first time you drop it!" -
geeksinhere23 could that be the only upgrade from iphone4s to iphone5? so is more like a DSlite to DS XL. dame. apple without steve jobs is pretty much like a body without the soul with tons of $$fats$$ still remain.Reply -
QEFX bustapralso anyone notice the condoms on that guys finger? XDReply
The finger "condoms" keeps oil, dust and static off things, plus your nails won't scratch things. Some of them even have little high grip areas, useful for manufacturing jobs. -
A Bad Day And you'll still get booked with at least a $50 repair job if the screen shatters. Even tempered glass is a lot cheaper for such size...Reply
